It is said that the green reed that bends with the wind is stronger than the mighty oak that breaks in the storm.
Reeds may represent frailty but most often they represent the strength found in flexibility. Sometimes they bend, sometimes they break, sometimes they all but disappear. However, they always bounce back demonstrating a resilience that reflects the ability of human beings to deal with adversity as part of the human condition.
Is Blackwood River Clinic right for me?
The importance of mental health and making healthy positive choices can never be underestimated. Change is not only possible, it is essential.
If you are experiencing stress, distress or imbalance related to your mental health and feel negatively challenged or stuck in your daily life it may be a good time to explore that, to commit to change and to learn new skills.
The tranquil rural setting enables patients to fully attend to their situation without distraction, enhancing the potential for a rich and deep therapeutic response. Blackwood River Clinic adopts a holistic approach to psychiatric and psychological disorder.
We recognise the value of a comprehensive team approach utilising psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and nurses, with complementary therapists such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness teachers combined with exercise, and creative arts.
Medication is a valuable tool for certain conditions but Blackwood River Clinic emphasises the mastery of self-control that comes through intensive group psychotherapy and focuses on that aspect for managing your illness.
The Clinic is committed to being a Therapeutic Community and requires all attendees to honour this throughout the period of their program during the program times and at the conclusion of therapy as they return to their accommodation, whether that is at the low-cost equity access accommodation of Sky Lakes Retreat or whether it is elsewhere. The therapeutic community can be impacted by negative communications and behaviours.
Blackwood River Clinic therapy programs are facilitated from 0900 to 1700 seven days a week. As Day-Patients, attendees are responsible for their own care at the conclusion of groups (after hours).
